What To Expect At Codrington College

International Students

Student Visas

All non-Barbadian students are required to obtain a student visa
New first time students are required to complete H1 & H2 forms and submit with the following documentation to the Registrar’ Office upon request for onward transmission to the Immigration & Passport Department of Barbados.
  • 2 passport sized photos
  • Valid passport/copies of relevant pages
  • Proof of accommodation (this is provided for persons residing at Codrington College)
  • Proof of Financial support (this is provided for persons who have been sent to Codrington College by their Diocese)
  • Birth Certificate and copy
  • Police certificate of character (to be attained in country of residence)
  • Application fee

Exchange Students

Continuing Non-Barbadian students are required to complete the H3 form and submit it with the following documentation.
  • Valid passport/copies of relevant pages

  • Report containing evidence of satisfactory progress & deportment (provided by Codrington College)

Barbados & the Caribbean

The local currency in Barbados is the Barbadian dollar which is converted at the rate of 2:1 to the US dollar. Although most establishments accept U.S. currency, your money will go further if you pay in Barbados dollars. On the streets primarily, $1 US Dollar is usually matched to $2 Barbados Dollars. However, in the banking institutions, $1 US Dollar is exchanged at BDS$1.98. If you don’t have cash on hand, most places will also take MasterCard or Visa, so you have a variety of payment options at your disposal.

Counseling Services

Counseling services are offered to registered students of the College on a request basis and are facilitated through booking in the Registrar’s Office or directly with the Chaplain.

Campus Life

Chapel 

The seminary community gathers to worship every Monday, Tuesday and Thursday morning at 6:30 a.m. for Morning Meditation and on Wednesday and Friday mornings for Holy Eucharist at 7:00 a.m. Evenings are reserved for Evening Prayer at 7:00 p.m.  Worship takes place in either the St. Barnabas Chapel or the Mary Magdalene Chapel and is schedule is circulated amongst Seminarians.

Residence Life

The Codrington Theological Seminary is represented by students across the Caribbean region who have been sent by their Diocese to prepare for the priesthood.  The College’s intention is to foster a seminary community where residents are encouraged, cared for, and learn to serve one another to the glory of God. 

Refectory & Meals

Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner are provided for Seminarians on a daily basis during the given semester, however, those persons desirous of snacks etc are encouraged to take advantage of fortnightly scheduled shopping trips to attain personal goods.  All residing students are required to fill out a Dietary Requirement Form on entry to the College.  See attached document.

Student Meals

Special rates for meals are offered to all registered students.  They are as follows: Breakfast $12.00 daily, Lunch$15.00 daily and Dinner $15.00 daily.

Student Body Organization 

Separated they live in Bookmarksgrove right at the coast of the Semantics, a large language ocean. A small river named Dudenmouth.Students are encouraged to join the Student Executive Body which conducts elections for Office on an annual basis.  Students of the UWI programmes are also encouraged to join the UWI Guild of Students.

Transportation 

Transportation is arranged through the Registrar’s Office for residents of Codrington College.  Trips include: to and from airport, supermarkets and shopping areas, UWI Cave Hill Campus, Special events.  For personal activities, residents are required to arrange own transportation.  Contact information on safe and reputable transportation services can also be acquired via the Registrar’s Office.

Library

Codrington College Library plays a central role in the college with over 14,000 volumes, about 90 periodical subscriptions and a fledgling multimedia collection to support the mission of the college. The library is also a specialised resource of theological materials for the Anglican Church [in the region] as well as the University of the West Indies.
The mission of Codrington College Library is to provide and manage information resources to support theological education and professional ministry training at the college and the informational needs of the wider church.
